Projects

Beyond my academic and career experiences, I enjoy exploring my other interests in history, community organizing and activism through projects I’ve worked on. Learn more about my work and ways to get involved.

UN African Descent Fellow 2021 : I was selected as one of 18 international fellows, where I learned about international human rights frameworks to combat discrimination.

Humanity in Action Project 2020: As a Humanity in Action Fellow, I expanded the Inclusion and Diversity Task Force into a standing committee with my peers on Student Council.

Anti-Racism Guide for Girls 2020: During my time working at the Malala Fund, I created an anti-racism guide to educate girls worldwide. The guide has been used as a teaching tool for schools and international communities.

Inclusion and Diversity Task Force 2019: As a member of Student Council, I established a task force for Inclusion and Diversity with my peers. We advocated for resources for marginalized students through issues of food insecurity, land acknowledgements and medical access for LGBTQIA+ students.

No Space for Hate 2019: In response to my experience with racial harassment on campus, I created No Space for Hate, a coalition to advocate for stronger anti-discrimination at Columbia University. We introduced over 20 policies and initiatives on the university level.

Fortis Fellowship and NOLS 2019: I was selected as one of 16 Fortis Fellows for 2019, and went on a life changing 3-week NOLS Leadership Hiking course in Wyoming with a group of talented fellow young leaders.

Black History Month Exhibit 2018: During my time at McFatter High School as a junior, I created the Black History Month exhibit to educate my peers on Black history. I went on to win a Silver Knight Service Award honoring my work in 2018.

March for Our Lives 2018: Following the Parkland shooting, less than 30 minutes away from my school, I led students in my community protesting gun laws in Florida. We lobbied for legal reform on local gun laws in 2018.
